History
The history of the privately owned D & S Transport dates back to the year 1989 when Shane Govender, a former diesel technician at Mercedes Benz and Team Delta, established himself as cartage contractor in Pietermaritzburg, in the erstwhile province of Natal. Today, years later the company, which has meanwhile become highly diversified, is still managed by Mr Govender and has the headquarters based in Pietermaritzburg.
In 1995 Mr Govender diversified his cartage contracting business to include a plant hire and over time D&S Transport has become one of the primary names in the cartage and plant hire business, providing transport services across Southern Africa. The company’s success and growth has been built on professionalism, efficiency and dedication combined with good trucks, plant and a good careful selection of drivers and top mechanics, a policy that has been continued to present day.

Our other strengths include loyalty; we always strive to be loyal to our clients in all aspects and therefore offer a truly personalised service. We pride ourselves in being both highly reliable and flexible at the same time. We have a variety of vehicles to meet the needs of the client. Demands in our country are changing and we feel we have great foresight and can therefore continuously meet the demands of our changing environment. This we do with close interaction with our clients. We are able to offer a service that has become uncommon in these times.

D & S Transport’s motto is to employ only the best individuals who will continue to hold good, well into the future. At the same time we always insure that our corporate identity as a national operating company is further strengthened and not compromised. Both the owner and all of the staff of D & S Transport are according to the “South African classification”, individuals from previously disadvantaged communities. Our company is fully BBBEE compliant.
